Junior Frontend Developer
Location: Whitley Bay – Hybrid (2 days from office)

As a Junior Front-End Developer, you’ll help build high-quality web applications using React and TypeScript, improve existing features, and learn how to deliver secure, accessible, well-tested software. You’ll work closely with designers, developers, and product specialists to support the delivery of important public-facing digital services.
What you’ll be doing:
*Helping build and maintain web applications using React + TypeScript
*Writing clean, accessible, and responsive HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
*Working in an agile team alongside designers, engineers, and product specialists
*Integrating front-end components with APIs
*Contributing to code reviews and learning good engineering practices
*Writing unit tests and learning modern testing tools
*Supporting continuous improvement across the team and learning new skills
*Getting hands-on experience with cloud technologies and CI/CD pipelines
What you’ll learn and develop experience in:
*Building secure and scalable front-end solutions
*Working with modern frameworks and reusable components
*Understanding performance, accessibility, and good UI/UX principles
*Improving engineering processes and contributing ideas
*Collaborating in a supportive, modern development environment
Skills we’re looking for:
*Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
*Some experience with React (commercial or self-taught)
*Willingness to learn TypeScript and modern engineering practices
*Basic understanding of API integration
*Interest in writing clean, testable code
*A positive attitude, curiosity, and a desire to grow as a developer
Nice to have (but not essential):
*Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
*Experience with unit testing (Jest or similar)
*Exposure to CI/CD or version control tools like Git
*Interest in modern tooling, accessibility, and UI performance
Salary: up to £34K DOE
