Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to support the smooth and accurate delivery of our monthly payroll service. In this key role, you will act as a payroll specialist, ensuring compliance, maintaining high-quality data, and contributing to ongoing improvements across payroll and benefits. This role requires 2 days per week in our Central Birmingham office.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver timely and accurate monthly payroll for employees and associates.
• Complete RTI submissions, support audits, and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Maintain payroll system data integrity, conducting regular checks and updates.
• Produce MI reports using iTrent Connect and SAP Business Objects.
• Support auto-enrolment processes, pension reconciliations, and payroll-related benefit deductions.
• Contribute to reviewing and improving payroll processes and internal controls.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex payroll queries.
About You
• Strong experience in payroll operations, ideally within a complex, high-volume environment.
• Confident user of iTrent Connect HR & Payroll and SAP Business Objects.
• Excellent Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of PAYE, RTI, statutory payments, and auto-enrolment.
• Able to analyse data, resolve issues, and work accurately under pressure.
• Strong communicator with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
• Proactive, adaptable, and committed to delivering continuous improvement.
