Job Description:
Credit control isn’t about chasing people for money, it’s about building and managing relationships. It’s about judgement, it’s about knowing when to push, when to pick up the phone, and when a calm conversation will solve more than ten reminder emails ever could.
You won’t be doing this alone, you’ll be part of a team of three, working together to keep the ledger healthy, reduce overdue balances, and maintain strong relationships with over 2000 customers across the UK.
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for managing part of the customer ledger, keeping track of balances, following up on overdue invoices, and resolving queries that may be holding up payment.
Some days that means sending reminders and reconciling accounts. Other days it means speaking to customers, agreeing payment plans, or working internally with colleagues to solve problems quickly.
What’s the role?
*Managing and maintaining a section of the customer ledger
*Chasing overdue invoices via phone and email
*Building strong relationships with customers to encourage prompt payment
*Investigating and resolving invoice or account queries
*Allocating incoming payments and reconciling accounts
*Supporting the wider finance team with credit control processes
*Helping maintain accurate records and reporting on debtor balances
You’re organised, confident on the phone, and comfortable having conversations about money without it becoming awkward or confrontational. You understand how credit control works, and you know that good communication can often resolve issues faster than escalation.
What else do you need?
*Previous experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role
*Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
*Good Excel and general IT skills
*The confidence to speak with customers and internal teams alike
*A calm, practical approach when dealing with problems
What’s in it for you?
*An annual salary of up to £31k (depending on experience)
*33 days holiday including Bank Holidays
*Flexible working options including holiday buy/sell
*Death in service benefit
*Onsite gym and subsidised canteen
*Discounts on refurbished tech and appliances
*A varied role in a busy, collaborative finance team
If you enjoy bringing order to a busy ledger and building good working relationships along the way, this could be a great fit.
