Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally? We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Leader to join a supportive SEN School located in Colchester, Essex, starting as soon as possible.

The Role
As a Pastoral Leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring students feel safe, supported, and able to engage positively with their education. You will work closely with teaching teams, support staff, external agencies, and families to deliver consistent and effective pastoral care tailored to each child’s individual needs.

Key Responsibilities
· Lead on pastoral provision for students with a range of SEN needs, including ASD, SEMH, and complex learning difficulties.
· Develop and implement behaviour support strategies and personalised intervention plans.
· Provide day-to-day mentoring, emotional support, and guidance to pupils.
· Support safeguarding and wellbeing across the school.
· Monitor attendance, behaviour, and engagement, taking proactive steps where required.
· Build strong working relationships with families and external professionals.
· Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing school culture.

Requirements
· Experience within a pastoral, behavioural, or safeguarding role (SEN or educational settings preferred).
· Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and emotional support practices.
· Ability to remain calm, resilient, and solution-focused, particularly when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people with SEN.
