Year 10 Teaching Assistant - Specialist Secondary School
Hackney, East London
Daily Rate: £95 - £132
Contract: 23rd March - 22nd July 2026
A supportive specialist secondary school in Hackney is looking to appoint a dedicated Year 10 Teaching Assistant to join their team from 23rd March through to the end of the academic year in July 2026.
The school provides a structured and nurturing learning environment for students with moderate learning needs, focusing on helping young people develop academically while also building confidence, independence and strong social skills.
This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with teenagers and is confident providing consistent classroom support. The successful candidate will play an important part in helping Year 10 pupils stay engaged with their learning and feel supported throughout the school day.
About the Role
Supporting Year 10 students during lessons to help them access learning
Encouraging positive engagement and maintaining a calm learning environment
Assisting students with confidence building, communication and emotional regulation
Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SEND team to provide targeted support
Helping to create a safe, inclusive and structured classroom environment
About You
Experience supporting students with SEND is beneficial, though not essential
Confident managing behaviour and promoting positive learning attitudes
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with young people
Backgrounds in mentoring, youth work, sports coaching or pastoral support are highly valued
Energetic, patient and resilient when supporting students with additional needs
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on and active approach to learning, as many students respond well to movement-based activities and practical engagement.
