Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker
Location: Bexhill (East Sussex)
Hours: 12-hour shifts (08:00–20:00), paid 11.5 hours
Shift Pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off
Average Weekly Hours: 40.25
Contract Length: 2–3 months or temp to perm
About the Role
We are recruiting a Temporary Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join our Multiple Complex Needs refuge in Bexhill. This role provides vital hands-on support to survivors of domestic abuse with additional or complex needs, ensuring safety, emotional stability and practical support during a critical period.
You will work on-site during 12-hour day shifts, supporting residents, managing safeguarding concerns, and promoting a trauma-informed and empowering environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide emotional and practical support to survivors with complex needs
*Complete handovers, incident logs, safeguarding reports and daily case notes
*Respond to crises, de-escalate challenging situations and ensure safety planning
*Assist residents with benefits, housing options and essential daily tasks
*Work closely with external partners including local authorities, police and specialist services
*Maintain a calm, supportive and structured environment within the refuge
About You
*Experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse or vulnerable individuals
*Strong understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries and trauma-informed practice
*Confident managing complex behaviours and making safe, timely decisions
*Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
*Able to work independently during long shifts as part of a rota
