Key Responsibilities
*Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, speech & language needs, SEMH, and learning disabilities.
*Assist the class teacher in adapting and delivering differentiated learning activities to meet individual needs.
*Support pupils in developing independence, confidence, communication, and social skills.
*Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs, behaviour plans, and individual learning plans.
*Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and well-being through consistent, nurturing support.
*Prepare and organise resources to enhance learning experiences.
*Help pupils engage with classroom routines, transitions, and sensory or therapeutic activities.
*Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCO, therapists, and external professionals to monitor progress.
*Maintain clear records of support, behaviour, and achievement where required.
*Ensure the classroom remains a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all pupils.
Person SpecificationEssential Skills & Qualities *Experience working with children (SEN experience preferred but not essential).
*A positive, energetic, and proactive attitude.
*Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
*Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with complex needs.
*Understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusive practice.
*Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils.
*GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent qualifications).
*Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable Skills *Experience with ASD, SEMH, or non-verbal communication strategies (PECS, Makaton).
*Training in Team Teach, First Aid, or behaviour de-escalation.
*Previous school-based or educational support experience.
