Job Description:
Location: Dartford
Salary: £37,500 working Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
Summary:
We are looking for a highly organised and experienced Assistant Transport Manager to support the day-to-day running of a transport operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining compliance, and supporting driver performance while helping to deliver an efficient and reliable transport service.
Key Responsibilities:
*Support the Transport Manager in the daily management of the transport operation.
*Ensure the smooth and efficient running of vehicle and driver schedules.
*Monitor and maintain compliance with all transport legislation, including drivers’ hours and tachograph regulations.
*Provide guidance and support to drivers to ensure high performance, safety, and compliance standards.
*Assist with route planning, vehicle utilisation, and operational efficiency.
*Investigate and resolve operational issues quickly to minimise disruption.
*Maintain accurate transport records and compliance documentation.
*Support driver briefings, training, and performance management.
*Work closely with other departments to ensure timely and effective service delivery
Key Skills/Experience:
*Strong transport industry knowledge and experience.
*Excellent understanding of drivers hours regulations and transport compliance.
*Previous experience in a transport, logistics, or fleet management role.
*Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
*Excellent communication and leadership skills when working with drivers and operational teams.
*Proficiency in transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
