Job Description:
HR and Training department’s objective is to advise, support and partner with the business, enabling the Bank to achieve its strategic mission and goals. The department supports all Bank’s departments across front, middle and back office functions. As a Payroll Specialist, you will support the delivery of accurate, compliant and well-controlled payroll operations across the Bank’s UK entities. You will work closely with the Bank’s external payroll provider and alongside the team to oversee payroll activities to ensure payroll processing operates within a robust control environment and complies with UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and internal governance standards. This is a full time permanent position.
Key responsibilities
*Coordinate the monthly payroll process for employees, including expatriate employees in partnership with the Bank’s external payroll provider
*Ensure payroll inputs are collated, accurate, validated and appropriately authorised prior to submission to the payroll provider
*Perform pre-payroll and post-payroll validation checks to confirm accuracy of salary payments, tax treatment, deductions and benefit processing
*Act as key point of contact with the Bank’s external payroll provider, ensuring payroll services are delivered in accordance with the agreed services standards
*Ensure payroll processes comply with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and reporting obligations
*Coordinate the monthly PAYE and National Insurance payments to HMRC for the Bank’s UK entities
*Prepare monthly payroll journals and accounting entries in line with Financial Management department’s reporting timelines
*Support internal audit, external audit and regulatory reviews, providing payroll information and documentation as required
*Respond to payroll and benefit queries from employees and internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner
Requirements
*Degree educated in HR, Finance, Business or other relevant subjects
*Demonstrated experience in UK payroll administration, ideally within Financial Services or regulated environment
*Experience of working with external payroll providers and validating payroll outputs
*Experience supporting payroll reconciliations, reporting and audit processes
*Excellent knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE and statutory reporting obligations
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
*High level of accuracy, diligence and attention to detail
*Able to handle sensitive and confidential payroll information appropriately
*Solid analytical and reconciliation capabilities
*Proficient in MS Office particularly in the use of Excel
*Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet strict payroll processing deadlines
