Job Description:
Fleet and Workshop Support Officer
*Location: Wakefield Council
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (3 months)
*Pay Rate: £13.69 per hour (PAYE)
Wakefield Council are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Fleet and Workshop Support Officer to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for supporting the day-to-day operations of our fleet and workshop, ensuring high standards of administrative support and contributing to the smooth running of our services.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Manage incoming enquiries via phone and email, directing queries to appropriate team members.
*Provide general administrative support including filing, data entry, photocopying, and document preparation.
*Maintain and update databases, records, and tracking systems.
*Support the team with coordination of workloads, task follow-ups, and basic reporting.
*Assist with purchasing, raising orders, and processing invoices.
*Provide a reception, administration, and stores service to the vehicle maintenance workshops, vehicle & plant users, taxi drivers, and other customers.
*Monitor service & supply contractors and maintain accurate records for vehicle & plant maintenance.
*Contribute to the delivery of the Corporate Climate Change Action Plan and enable Fleet Decarbonisation.
*Manage statutory motor vehicle test registers and process computerised weekly payroll data.
*Undertake periodic stock checks and reconciliation of imprest stock and annual stock takes.
*Develop and maintain systems to improve the accuracy, validity, and efficiency of sub-contractor management systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Strong organisational and time-management skills.
*Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
*Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
*Previous administrative experience in a busy environment.
*Experience in fleet and workshop operations is highly desirable.
*Full UK driving license is desirable but not essential.
