*Manage end-to-end payroll, pensions, HMRC reporting & compliance.
*Lead a small payroll team across multiple sites.
*Support process improvements, audits, and payroll system upgrades.
Payroll Manager – Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) – Warwick
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover, approx. 12 months)
Salary: £52,209 – £55,957 per annum + benefits
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (9am–5pm, Mon–Fri)
Are you an experienced Payroll Manager looking for a new challenge? Join a dynamic multi-site organisation as a Payroll Manager on a 12-month maternity cover. This is a hands-on leadership role, managing a small payroll team and ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing for around 800 staff across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities*Lead and manage the payroll function, ensuring staff are paid accurately and on time.
*Oversee payroll records, including pay, overtime, absence, and benefits.
*Review salary calculations and ensure compliance with PAYE, NI, and statutory payments.
*Handle monthly payroll cycles and HMRC reporting deadlines.
*Manage pension reporting and auto-enrolment processes.
*Prepare documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
*Respond to staff payroll queries and support process improvements and system upgrades.
*Line management of Deputy Payroll Manager and Payroll Administrator.
Required Skills & Experience*Proven payroll management experience with strong knowledge of payroll legislation.
*CIPP Level 5 qualified or equivalent experience.
*Experience managing payroll compliance, statutory payments, and reporting.
*Advanced Excel skills and high attention to detail.
*Strong communication and problem-solving skills; able to manage queries from multiple stakeholders.
*Experience leading a small payroll team.
Desirable:
*Experience with iTrent or other integrated HR/payroll systems.
*Background in education, charity, or multi-site organisations.
*Knowledge of Teacher Pension Scheme (TPS).
Working Environment*Primarily onsite at Warwick Campus, occasional remote work possible.
*Part of a finance team of 18, working closely with HR.
*Fast-paced and collaborative environment, supporting multiple schools.
