Job Description:
Assistant Accountant
3-month contract, with the potential to extend or become permanent
Location: Remote with 1 day per week in Central London
£50,000 - £55,000 pro rata
Overview
An established and growing digital marketing business who have offices across the UK and Europe are looking for an experienced and hands-on Assistant Accountant to support the finance function. The role will initially start as a 3 month contract but has the potential to extend and potentially become a permanent role
This position will report directly to the Head of Finance and support the day-to-day financial operations for the UK and European entities.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage day-to-day finance operations across UK and 4 European entities
*Process and review financial transactions including accounts payable, receivable, and bank reconciliations
*Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting
*Support intercompany accounting between European entities and the US parent company
*Manage and reconcile multi-currency transactions
*Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies or issues
*Support improvements in finance processes, automation, and system efficiencies
*Work with finance systems including Xero and NetSuite to optimise workflows
*Ensure accurate financial records and compliance with internal policies
Skills & Experience
*A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a sole accounting role or small finance team environment is essential
*identifying areas for improvement and helping streamline processes
*Strong understanding of transactional accounting and day-to-day finance operations
*Experience handling intercompany transactions
*Experience working with multi-currency accounts
*Strong working knowledge of Xero is essentially and ideally good working knowledge of Netsuite
*Ability to work independently and proactively identify and resolve issues
