Job Description:
We are currently working with a well-established organisation based in Birmingham who are looking to appoint an Interim Assistant Management Accountant to support their finance team on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for the role to extend.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or experienced finance professional to join a busy finance function and gain strong exposure to management accounting, reporting, and financial analysis within a supportive team environment.
The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with three days per week based in the Birmingham office and the remainder working remotely.
Key Responsibilities*Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including posting journals, calculating accruals, and preparing prepayments.
*Performing regular balance sheet reconciliations and investigating any outstanding reconciling items.
*Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant financial data, analysis, and variance commentary.
*Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and analysis for internal stakeholders.
*Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the team during audit processes.
*Contributing to process improvements and strengthening financial controls within the finance function.
*Providing ad hoc financial support and analysis to the wider finance team as required.
Candidate Profile*Previous experience in a finance or assistant management accounting role.
*Strong understanding of management accounting processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
*Good analytical and Excel skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
*Strong attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
*Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable*Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or AAT) or currently studying towards a professional qualification.
*Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, or financial reporting processes.
