Job Description:
Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our specialist secondary provision for pupils aged 11-16 with a range of social communication needs, including Autism and ADHD. Our setting offers exceptionally small class sizes, a structured environment, and a strong emphasis on relationship-based support.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital part in helping pupils access learning, regulate their emotions, and develop confidence. Working closely with the class teacher, you will deliver targeted small-group work, support individual pupils, and contribute to personalised learning plans across a range of non-core subjects.You will help ensure lessons run smoothly, build positive working relationships, and promote routines and expectations that help pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants with experience from mainstream or specialist settings. You should bring:
*A calm, patient and empathetic approach
*Experience supporting young people with Autism and/or ADHD (desirable)
*Confidence leading small-group activities under teacher guidance
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*A willingness to understand each pupil’s strengths, needs and motivations
*A commitment to helping pupils develop independence and self-regulation
