Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Digital Content Editor who will be based within the Communication & External Affairs directorate, working closely with Brand and Marketing, technical and related teams using Agile methodology to ensure continuous improvement. We operate a hybrid working model. Working in a friendly, award-winning team connected to all parts of this Russell Group University.
As a Content Editor, you’ll be a key player in supporting the Website and Intranet. Your responsibilities include establishing effective governance and providing support to our content community. Beyond handling day-to-day content queries, you’ll actively drive our content strategy. Collaborating with a broader team, you’ll leverage your expertise in audience analysis, content modelling, auditing, analytics, and accessibility.
The salary band is negotiable based on experience.
Key responsibilities:
Advise and mentor colleagues across the organisation on content best practice, providing support, training and practical expertise.
With an audience first approach, use data analytics and insights to assess content opportunities and advise how to deliver the right content to the right people at the right time.
Promote search engine optimisation. Embed SEO fundamentals into content production - keyword research, on page/off page optimisation, strategic linking and building high value content.
Monitor quality of content across the website and intranet, supporting areas for improvement and showcasing best practice.
Audit content and help content creators maintain a healthy content lifecycle, ensuring the intranet and website remain as current as possible with no legacy or duplication.
Put digital accessibility first, be an advocate for accessible practice and able to demonstrate and encourage accessible content techniques.
Exp and skills:
Experience of designing and delivering innovative and creative digital ideas
The ability to create/optimise great content across different content types including web pages, blogs, podcasts, videos, infographics.
Proven research skills and able to use analytics information
Must be understand SEO, both on page and off page
Experienced in content strategy and be able to understand business objectives and translate them into actionable steps to creating the right type of content.
Knowledge of digital accessibility, WCAG 2.2 and assistive technologies.
Must understand and promote digital governance.
Must have a fundamental understanding of how people use the internet, digital skill levels and copywriting for online audiences.
Quals:
A degree or equivalent
Digital marketing qualification (desirable)
Experience working in Higher Education (desirable)
