Mental Health Assistant – Psychology Graduates


Are you a Psychology graduate or aspiring mental health professional looking to gain hands-on school experience?


A supportive primary school in Camden is looking for a Mental Health Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs in a rewarding long-term role, starting ASAP.


As a Mental Health Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils who may be experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges that impact their learning. Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff, you will help create a safe and supportive environment where pupils feel confident, understood and ready to learn.


The Mental Health Assistant role will involve providing 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils develop emotional regulation, communication skills and confidence within the classroom. You may also support targeted interventions within EYFS and Key Stage 1, helping children build positive routines and coping strategies.


This Mental Health Assistant opportunity would suit a Psychology graduate or someone with experience supporting children with SEN, behavioural needs or mental health challenges, who is patient, empathetic and motivated to make a genuine difference.

*Mental Health Assistant
*Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs
*Support pupils with Autism (ASD), communication needs and behavioural challenges
*Deliver targeted interventions across EYFS and Key Stage 1
*Help pupils develop emotional regulation, confidence and engagement with learning
*Work closely with teachers, SENCO and pastoral staff
*ASAP start
*Full-time / Term Time Only
*£105 – £120 per day
*Located in Camden


PERSON SPECIFICATION
*Psychology graduate or someone with experience supporting children or young people
*Background in SEN, mental health, behaviour support or youth work is highly desirable
*Patient, empathetic and nurturing approach
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills
*Passionate about supporting children’s wellbeing and development
*Ability to remain calm and proactive in a busy school environment
