Butler Rose are delighted to be supporting a well-established organisation in their search for a talented Management Accountant to join their finance team on a 15-month maternity cover contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a varied role and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
You’ll be joining a friendly, close-knit finance department where you’ll play a key part in maintaining financial records, supporting month-end activity, and ensuring strong financial governance across the business. While the role contains regular, routine responsibilities, there will also be opportunities to get involved in wider projects relating to manufacturing and supply chain processes - perfect for someone with a continuous improvement mindset.
Hybrid working is available following successful completion of probation (1 day per week from home), alongside flexibility with core working hours.
Key Responsibilities*Maintain and analyse daily, weekly, and monthly KPI data for senior management.
*Support month-end management accounts including variance analysis, commentary, and balance sheet reconciliations.
*Oversee credit control processes, analysing revenue risks and preparing overdue debt reports.
*Manage UK and overseas payroll (outsourced), ensuring compliance and resolving queries.
*Prepare and file monthly VAT returns and maintain VAT compliance.
*Maintain the fixed asset register, review capital expenditure approvals, and lead quarterly asset reviews.
*Calculate payments, invoicing, commissions, and exchange-rate related adjustments.
*Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and statutory audit processes.
*Act as the key point of contact for the online expenses system.
*Complete Office for National Statistics returns and undertake additional ad-hoc finance tasks as required.
About YouEssential:
*AAT qualified (or equivalent) or actively studying towards a recognised professional accountancy qualification.
*Strong Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*High attention to detail and accuracy.
*Self-motivated with a positive, continuous improvement mindset.
*Enjoys working as part of a team.
Desirable:
*Experience in manufacturing or FMCG environments.
*SAP experience.
*Part-qualified accountant.
