Event Project Manager (Interim)
£350-£600 p/d DoE
London
3-4 Month Contract
We are partnering with a large, complex organisation undergoing a significant transformation of its events function. With a high volume of events delivered annually, the business is looking to establish a more strategic, scalable, and effective operating model.
To support this, they are seeking an experienced Event Project Manager to lead a critical transformation project on an interim basis.
The Role
This is a strategic project role focused on designing and delivering a new events operating model. You will lead a defined phase of work to establish the strategy, governance, and decision-making framework for events across the organisation.
This is not an operational event delivery role. Instead, it requires a strong background in strategy, analysis, and programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
*Develop a comprehensive events strategy aligned to organisational objectives
*Design a clear governance framework, including decision-making structures and escalation routes
*Establish KPIs, performance metrics, and quality standards for events
*Conduct a full review of the existing events portfolio, identifying duplication and optimisation opportunities
*Create a prioritisation and tiering framework to guide future event planning
*Build a robust evidence base to inform future structural and investment decisions
*Engage and influence senior stakeholders across the organisation
*Deliver all outputs within a fast-paced, time-bound project environment
Requirements
*Significant experience in event strategy, operating model design, or portfolio management
*Proven experience designing governance frameworks and decision-making structures
*Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and rationalise complex portfolios
*Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making
*Strong programme or project management capability
*Ability to work independently and deliver at pace
Desirable
*Experience within large, complex organisations
*Exposure to Higher Education or similarly structured environments
Personal Attributes
*Comfortable working with ambiguity and complexity
*Structured, logical, and detail-oriented thinker
*Objective and evidence-led in approach
*Confident in challenging and influencing stakeholders where required
What’s on Offer
*Opportunity to lead a high-impact transformation project
*Exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making
*A clearly defined scope with tangible deliverables
*Fast-paced, outcome-focused environment
