The Opportunity
I’m recruiting for a hands-on Lead Cloud Platform Engineer to join a highly advanced underwriting technology team working on a cloud-native platform used across major US property portfolios and now scaling globally. This is a modern engineering environment built around Azure-native services, containerisation, and ML-driven pricing models, with significant future investment and a global roadmap.
You’ll lead technical delivery, elevate engineering standards, and drive performance, scalability, and reliability across a platform built end-to-end in Typescript, NodeJS, and Azure.
This role blends hands-on engineering with senior-level technical leadership and genuine influence across international teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
*Leading technical delivery and engineering quality across a high-visibility, cloud-native underwriting platform.
*Designing, implementing, and optimising solutions in Azure, including Containers, AKS, App Services, and Azure Functions.
*Improving platform performance, scalability, observability, and reliability.
*Overseeing code reviews, production releases, development standards, and architectural decision-making.
*Partnering with Product Owner and cross-functional teams
*Introducing engineering discipline to an area transitioning from business-owned to IT-led.
Tech Stack & Skills
Must have:
*Advanced hands-on experience with Typescript and NodeJS
*Azure Cloud Native engineering (AKS, Containers, App Services, Functions)
*Strong understanding of Azure compute, networking, storage & security
*Proven background scaling and optimising cloud platforms
*Ability to assess code and architecture verbally
*Strong technical leadership, stakeholder management & communication
