THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Hydrology Consultant to join a growing and dynamic team in Sheffield.
This role offers the chance to work across a diverse portfolio of projects, delivering flood risk, hydrology, and drainage solutions, while supporting junior staff and managing projects from inception through to completion.
THE ROLE
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality hydrology and flood risk services, supporting both technical delivery and project management across multiple schemes.
Key responsibilities include:
*Preparing Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), drainage strategies, and technical reports
*Delivering hydrological assessments and supporting flood mitigation design
*Contributing to SuDS schemes and flood resilience strategies
*Managing smaller projects, ensuring delivery to time and budget
*Supporting the preparation of fee proposals and project documentation
*Reviewing and contributing to technical reports produced by junior team members
*Liaising with clients, regulators, and external stakeholders
*Conducting site walkovers and surveys
*Preparing and reviewing risk assessments and RAMS
*Supporting and mentoring Assistant and Consultant-level staff
*Ensuring compliance with current legislation, policy, and best practice
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
*A degree (BSc or MSc) in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related discipline
*2-3+ years’ experience in flood risk, hydrology, or drainage
*Working towards Chartered status (CIWEM or equivalent)
*Experience producing FRA’s and hydrology reports
*Strong project management and organisational skills
*Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
*A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple projects
