Job Description:
Our client
Our client is a global engineering leader known for high-quality, high-performance mechanical solutions used across complex building and industrial environments. With continued growth in large-scale infrastructure projects—particularly data centres—they are strengthening their specialist engineering team in the North East.
The business is recognised for innovation, customer collaboration and long-term investment in engineering capability. This is a permanent role suited to someone who wants to develop, contribute ideas and build genuine technical depth.

The opportunity
This role blends mechanical design, customer engagement and product innovation.
You will:
*Work directly with architects, M&E consultants and project engineers on building services schemes.
*Review P&IDs, HVAC layouts and piping systems.
*Recommend and implement 5–10% design improvements to optimise performance and manufacturability.
*Take ownership of Design-to-Order projects (~70% of your time).
*Contribute to new product concepts, standards and future solutions (~30%).

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys influence, problem-solving and seeing their engineering decisions shape real-world applications.

You will thrive here if you bring:
*A strong Mechanical Design Engineering background.
*Experience in architectural, M&E/building services, HVAC, or piping design environments.
*Confidence interpreting and working from P&IDs and building services schematics.
*Understanding of HVAC, hot & cold water, drainage or waste systems.
*A consultative, customer-focused approach with the ability to challenge and refine designs.
*A stable, long-term career mindset — this team values people who want to grow with the business.

If you’re ready for a role where your technical expertise and ideas genuinely shape the future of engineered building solutions, we’d love to hear from you.
