Job Description:
The primary objective of the Business Development Manager is to drive market growth by up-selling to existing customers, reactivating dormant accounts, and generating new business. This is accomplished through strategic account management and the effective negotiation of sales across the company’s core product portfolio, Consumables and Retail.

My client is a UK-based independent wholesaler supplying pharmacies with dispensing consumables, healthcare equipment, and a broad range of health and beauty retail products. The company has grown from a small family business founded in the 1960s into a nationwide provider serving over 7,000 pharmacies across the UK.


Description
A central focus of the role is to maximise sales with independent pharmacies and Medium/Large pharmacy groups already purchasing from us, while continuously enhancing the customer journey and building strong, long-lasting relationships.
An equally important aspect of the role involves generating business from zero-spend and dormant accounts, identifying new opportunities to grow our footprint within the territory.
In addition to core product sales, the Business Development Manager gathers customer insights to support cross-selling initiatives across non-core product lines as well as sundries and other clinical solutions that help customers expand their service offerings.
The customer base within the assigned territory includes a mix of independent pharmacies, medium/Large pharmacy groups, and some dispensing doctors (GPs).
Accountabilities:
*Growth: Revenue, GP, and GM.
Engage with zero spend/dormant accounts through cold calling and existing spending customers to identify the customers needs, promoting the company’s core product lines, and cross sell to maximise future opportunities.
*Account Management: Manage and maintain relationships with newly acquired and existing pharmacies to facilitate up-selling and cross-selling opportunities.
*Business Development: Develop new business from existing and new customers.
*Information gathering: Gather information on competitors, market trends, and pharmacy services insights and report to Senior Business Development Manager.


Measures of Success:
*Weekly review of call time as a lead indicator of performance.
*Regular assessment of call quality via 3CX Phone Manager.
*Achievement of sales, GP, and GM targets and growth of territory.
*Weekly 1-1 meetings with the Senior Business Development Manager to review performance.
Profile
Experience requirements:
*Skills: Excellent IT skills (especially Microsoft Office)
*Personal Attributes: Productive, team-oriented, able to build strong rapports with customers, and capable of prioritising work autonomously while supporting team goals.
*Business Development: Extensive experience in a business development role, with a proven track record of expanding market share and re-engaging dormant accounts.
*Telesales: Strong background in telesales, including cold calling and closing sales over the phone.
*Account Management: Demonstrated experience in managing customer relationships and achieving cross-selling and up-selling targets.
*B2B Sales: Experience in B2B sales environment demonstrating strong negotiation skills.
