Job Description:
Trust Payroll and Finance Officer
*Location: KT area, London
*Job Type: Part-time (32 hours/week), Temporary with potential for permanent placement
Join our Finance Team in a dynamic educational trust. We are seeking a Trust Payroll and Finance Officer to provide essential support in managing an effective payroll and finance function. This role ensures all financial transactions are recorded accurately, comply with regulations, and are processed in a timely manner. The position is based within the central team but may involve tasks for other schools within the Trust as needed.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Manage all aspects of payroll and pension processing for designated schools within the Trust, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
*Handle establishment changes using the budget planner system and ensure these changes are accurately reflected in the payroll system.
*Prepare and submit monthly pension deduction schedules and other voluntary deductions.
*Process payroll journals and deal with queries from staff, HMRC, and pension schemes.
*Monitor monthly expenditures such as IT licenses and catering costs to assist with budget monitoring and forecasting.
*Contribute to the efficient operation of the purchase, sales, and parent payment systems.
*Prepare working papers to support financial statements and the Academies Accounts Return.
*Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and legislation relevant to academy finance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in payroll and finance within an educational or similar setting.
*Strong understanding of HMRC and pension legislation, including familiarity with TPS and LGPS.
*Proficiency in financial software and systems, with the ability to manage budget planner and payroll systems.
*Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
*Strong communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
