We are seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join a well-established plant hire and machinery services business known for supplying high-quality equipment across the region. Operating from a busy depot in Whickham, this role offers a balance of workshop-based repairs and mobile call-outs to customer sites. You’ll be part of a skilled engineering team supporting a modern fleet of heavy plant and construction machinery. A fully equipped company vehicle is provided for mobile duties.
Role Overview
*Carry out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics on a wide range of heavy plant equipment
*Work both in the workshop and on customer sites as required
*Respond to breakdowns and perform on-site repairs using a company van
*Conduct routine maintenance to manufacturer standards
*Complete job cards, service reports, and parts requisitions accurately
*Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently
*Represent the business professionally during customer visits
*Support depot operations when not attending mobile call-outs
Requirements
*Proven experience working on heavy plant machinery (excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, etc.)
*Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault-finding skills
*Ability to work independently on mobile jobs and as part of a workshop team
*Full UK driving licence
*Good communication and customer-facing skills
*Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise workloads
Salary & Benefits
*£15.50 - £16.00 per hour - dependant on experience
*Monday-Friday, 7:00-16:30
*Overtime available at time and a half
*Company vehicle provided
*Paid from your front door when travelling directly to site
