If you are confident negotiator with experience across both indirect and direct spend and you’re looking for a role with real ownership and impact, this could be the opportunity for you. The role is a hybrid-based role, 3 days in the office and 2 days work from home.
Role Profile
Our client is an innovative and growing business with operations across multiple UK sites and a highly technical workforce. The business is now looking to recruit a Strategic Procurement Manager to take real ownership of procurement activity across the organisation.
This is a high impact role with responsibility over annual spend in excess of £10m, covering both direct and indirect categories. The role presents an opportunity to introduce structure, improve visibility and drive a more strategic approach. Reporting to the CFO, you will partner with senior stakeholders across wider business functions, ensuring spending is value-add and aligned to business objectives.
Role Responsibilities
*Lead procurement activity across both direct and indirect spend categories, delivering measurable cost savings.
*Negotiate supplier contracts, SLAs and commercial terms across areas including consumables, services and operational spend.
*Partner with senior stakeholders to challenge and justify spending decisions.
*Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities while ensuring quality, service and reliability are maintained.
*Review and improve procurement systems, including PO processes, spend control and approval workflows.
*Develop supplier performance frameworks, including KPIs, scorecards and regular review processes.
*Analyse spend data to improve forecasting, reporting and decision making.
*Line manage and support the development of an experienced Buyer handling day-to-day procurement activity.
Key Skills & Experience
*Proven experience working in a strategic procurement role, with demonstrable record of delivering YoY procurement cost savings.
*Strong negotiation skills with the confidence to challenge both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
*Strong supplier management focus, with experience in managing SLA’s, scorecards, quarterly reviews etc.
*Experience across both direct and indirect procurement categories.
*Background in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, FMCG, engineering or similarly complex environments.
*Ability to operate in a developing procurement environment and implement structured improvements.
*Commercially minded, with the ability to balance cost, quality and operational requirements.
*Comfortable working with data sets - analysing spend and improving visibility.
*Management experience in a previous role would be advantageous.
