Assistant Accountant – Okehampton – Full time – 6 month initial contract (Potential for Permanent) – Circa £35k

Trial Balance Consulting are pleased to be working with a growing and fast paced organisation to recruit an Assistant Accountant for their Okehampton based finance team. This opportunity has arisen as part of ongoing development within the business and offers the chance to join a supportive team during a period of positive change.
Working as part of a busy finance function, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the preparation of financial information while contributing to the day to day running of the department.
This is a varied role that will suit someone who enjoys both transactional work and month end responsibilities, and who is keen to continue developing their accounting experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and journals
- Maintaining and reconciling ledgers, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Processing invoices, payments, and expense claims
- Supporting VAT returns and statutory reporting
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Supporting the year end audit process and liaising with external auditors
- Responding to internal and external finance queries
- Contributing to improvements in processes and systems
We are seeking someone with previous experience in a similar role and a solid grounding in accounting principles. AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent would be advantageous, but practical experience and a proactive approach are equally important. SAGE 200 experience would be handy, but not essential.
