Job Description:
Trials Coordinator
Location: South West
Salary: Competitive
Ready to play a key role in shaping the future of soft-fruit genetics?
If you love being out on-site, spotting the early winners, and turning real-world trial data into confident decisions… this is the role for you.
We’re working with a leading soft-fruit business to recruit a Trials Coordinator - the person who makes sure every trial is set up right, every plant is tracked, and every insight counts.
This is hands-on, purposeful work where your evaluations influence which varieties make it to commercial production.
What You’ll Be Doing
*Designing and setting up all raspberry, blackberry, strawberry and blueberry trials.
*Labelling, mapping and organising plots so nothing gets missed.
*Collecting clean, reliable data and presenting it clearly to key stakeholders.
*Tracking varietal stages and updating evaluation progress.
*Spotting pest/disease vulnerabilities early.
*Joining monthly catch-ups with other trial managers for alignment.
*Reviewing each selection annually with the Genetics Director.
*Hosting breeder visits with confidence.
*Benchmarking trial varieties against standard commercial performers.
*Feeding into annual trial budget planning with accurate data.
In short: you’re the person who knows these plants better than anyone.
Why This Role Stands Out
*Proper ownership of a full trial site
*Real influence on varietal decisions
*Opportunities to visit external trial sites
*Attendance at industry conferences each year
*Strong collaboration with agronomy, QC and growing teams
What We’re Looking For
*Someone comfortable with both fieldwork and data.
*Confident collecting, analysing and presenting trial results.
*Able to run small projects from setup to conclusion.
*Curious, organised, and proactive.
*Right to work in the UK.
Key Stakeholders
External: Breeders, consultants
Internal: Agronomy, QC, Growing, Senior Leadership
Next Steps
If you want a role where your work directly shapes future commercial genetics, let’s talk.
