Are you a patient, resilient and nurturing SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a meaningful long-term role? Reed Education is working with a warm and welcoming primary school in the WF3 area of Wakefield that is seeking an experienced practitioner to provide one-to-one support for a Year 5 pupil with complex behavioural needs who is non-verbal.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on making a difference, values strong relationships, and is confident supporting a child who needs consistency, understanding and firm but compassionate guidance.
About the RoleIn this position, you will:
*Work 1:1 with a Year 5 pupil who requires tailored behavioural, emotional and communication support
*Use alternative communication methods and visual routines to aid engagement
*Implement structured strategies to help the pupil access learning safely and positively
*Collaborate closely with teaching staff, the SENCO and pastoral team
*Create an encouraging, predictable environment where the pupil feels supported and understood
*Contribute to the wider ethos of a school that places kindness, inclusivity and personal growth at the heart of everyday life

*Have strong experience supporting children with additional needs - particularly behavioural or communication challenges
*Are confident working with non-verbal pupils using PECS, visual aids, or other alternative communication tools
*Can remain calm, consistent and solution-focused in challenging situations
*Bring a positive, resilient attitude and a genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers
*Enjoy working collaboratively within a caring, child-centred team
