Specialist Children’s Occupational Therapist - Neurodiversity Lead

Rate:

London Cap - Band 7 (PAYE via Direct Engagement only)


Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Children’s Occupational Therapist to take on a Neurodiversity Lead role within a well-established community service.

You will lead on the development and delivery of specialist OT services for children with neurodivergent conditions, including Autism and ADHD, while supporting multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to deliver high-quality, child-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop OT services for children with neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD, developmental conditions)

Provide specialist assessment and intervention for children with complex needs

Act as a clinical expert and point of advice for OT input across services

Complete Education Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNA)

Work across health, education and social care settings

Manage a complex caseload including home, clinic and school environments

Support and upskill staff, parents and external professionals

Lead on service development, audits and clinical governance

Supervise and support junior staff (Band 6 OTs)

Essential Requirements

HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist

Significant post-graduate experience within Children’s OT

Strong experience working with neurodiverse children (Autism / ADHD)

Experience completing EHCNA reports

Experience working within community and multi-agency settings

Ability to manage complex caseloads independently

Experience supervising junior staff

Desirable

Sensory integration / sensory processing experience

Experience with specialist equipment and adaptations

Leadership or service development experience

Key Skills

Advanced clinical assessment and intervention skills

Strong communication and report writing skills

Ability to work autonomously and within MDTs

Leadership and mentoring capability

Additional Information

Community-based role - travel across Croydon required

Lone working involved

Working with families, schools and multi-agency teams
