Job Description:
Catering Assistant
*Part-time (20 hours over 3 days)
*Location: Hutton HQ and Blackpool HQ
*Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour (PAYE)
Lancashire Constabulary is seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our team. This role is based at both Hutton HQ and Blackpool HQ, with the likelihood of extra hours being offered. The successful candidate will assist in various aspects of our catering operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation and service.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Assist in the preparation and service of meals, adhering to agreed methods and maintaining portion control.
*Take part in stock taking, including checking and receipting deliveries, and ensure proper labelling and storage of stock.
*Ensure sufficient provisions of hot and cold food during service times.
*Support the Kitchen Team Leader in delivering the catering function.
*Undertake food preparation duties, ensuring food is fresh, properly stored, and ready for service at designated times.
*Serve and present meals and beverages in a friendly and courteous manner.
*Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas, completing cleaning schedules and daily checks as required.
*Operate the till system, handling cash and card payments.
*Monitor and maintain food and beverage vending machines.
*Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene, Health and Safety regulations, and COSHH regulations.
*Assist in monthly Health & Safety checks and report any accidents or incidents immediately.
*Support out of hours emergency catering services and operational events as needed.
*Travel between catering sites and transport goods using pool vehicles.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Valid Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 will be required
*Previous experience in a Catering or Kitchen environment preferred.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene.
*Full Police Vetting will be required for this position
*Usual working hours will be 10.30am - 14.30pm, 4 hours a day over 5 days a week, however there will be some early starts possibly from 7.30am, and some occasional evenings to work covering police events.
