Job Description:
Location: Southwark, London (Hybrid Working)
Job Type: Temporary, full-time (6 month contract)
The Greater London Authority are seeking a Principal Communications with expertise in translating complex policy, regulatory, or technical material into clear, compelling communications for diverse audiences. This temporary role is crucial for supporting high-priority communications needs by shaping policy intent into accessible narratives, messaging frameworks, and audience-appropriate content.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Convert policy, guidance, or regulatory language into plain-language communications.
*Develop strong narratives, including framing, messaging hierarchy, and storytelling.
*Synthesize complex or sensitive information quickly and accurately for multiple formats such as briefings, web content, FAQs, talking points, and executive summaries.
*Collaborate closely with policy, legal, or subject-matter experts to ensure accuracy while enhancing readability.
*Work under tight timelines in a fast-moving environment, maintaining editorial judgment and attention to detail.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in converting policy, guidance, or regulatory language into plain-language communications.
*Strong narrative development skills and the ability to write for multiple formats.
*Editorial judgment and meticulous attention to detail.
*Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
*Comfortable working under tight deadlines in dynamic settings.
*Ideal candidates will have a background in public sector, regulated industries, advocacy, or corporate policy communications and may have supported change communications or public-facing policy rollouts.
