Job Description:
HR Manager, up to £60k
We have an exciting opportunity for a confident HR Manager to join a well established organisation in the Care sector to assist during a period of change and play a key role in delivering high-quality, operational HR support across multiple services / sites in the South East of England. This is a hybrid role based at the Head Office in Southampton, with some travel to sites in the South East.
This is a generalist, hands on HR Manager role, reporting directly to the Managing Director, with one direct report. You will be central to driving consistent HR practice, managing employee relations and ensuring regulatory compliance across all services. The organisation is currently undergoing significant transformation, including a change in senior leadership and a wider restructure. As a result, your initial focus will be to lead and manage redundancy processes with professionalism, sensitivity and compliance.
This role offers excellent variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a genuine impact within an organisation that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Support business restructuring activities including end-to-end management of redundancy processes
*Manage a varied caseload of employee relations matters, including complex disciplinary, grievance, absence, and capability cases
*Provide practical, timely HR advice to managers, enabling effective and fair decision-making
*Coach and support managers in handling day-to-day people management challenges
*Visit services regularly to provide on-site HR support, conduct investigations, and attend key meetings
*Ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and workforce standards across all sites
*Advise on workforce planning, safe staffing levels, and service-specific HR challenges
*Oversee recruitment activity, ensuring timely hiring and onboarding across all services
*Maintain compliance with safer recruitment standards, including file audits and regulatory requirements (e.g. Ofsted)
*Ensure full HR compliance across all sites, including right-to-work checks and training records
*Lead HR policy updates and reviews in line with legislation and organisational needs
*Support managers with appraisals, probation reviews and improvement plans
*Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture, driving engagement, wellbeing, and retention initiatives
*Analyse staff feedback and survey data to support continuous improvement plans
*Produce monthly HR reports for the Board, including absence data, ER activity and staffing updates
We are looking for an experienced, proactive HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is confident managing change.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the Care sector or a related field such as Healthcare, Education or Social Housing. Experience of working in a regulated environment (ideally Ofsted) with an understanding of safer recruitment and compliance requirements would be highly beneficial.
*Salary up to £60,000
*Opportunity to play a key role during a period of transformation
*Varied and impactful role within a values-driven organisation
