The Opportunity
This well-established, high-performance engineering and manufacturing business specialises in advanced material solutions. Operating within complex, regulated supply chains, they support globally recognised engineering programmes across sectors such as aerospace, defence, marine, and motorsport.
As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team. This is a key role focused on delivering accurate, competitive costings that directly influence business success and customer engagement.
The Role
Working closely with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain, you will be responsible for producing robust and commercially viable cost estimates in response to customer RFQs.
Key responsibilities include:
*Preparing detailed cost estimates for components, assemblies, and tooling
*Analysing engineering drawings, CAD data, specifications, and BOMs
*Developing and maintaining structured costing models using advanced spreadsheets
*Reviewing manufacturing methods to ensure efficient cost allocation (labour, materials, overheads)
*Maintaining and improving estimating tools, templates, and cost databases
*Inputting and managing cost data within ERP systems
*Supporting BOM and routing accuracy across internal systems
*Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate proposal submission
*Engaging with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and lead times
*Identifying cost risks, assumptions, and opportunities for improved competitiveness
We are looking for a commercially aware and detail-oriented estimator with a strong technical foundation and a proactive mindset.
Key requirements
*Experience in estimating, cost engineering, or manufacturing
*Strong Excel / spreadsheet modelling capability
*Experience working with ERP systems
*Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
*Understanding of manufacturing processes, routings, and production workflows
*Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
