Inventory Controller
Temporary Contract (6 months)
Derby/ Nottingham (2 days on site, 3 days remote)
£13.60 per hour
This role exists to bring control and accuracy to inventory using an Excel-based system. Stock visibility is currently inconsistent, and the business needs someone who can manage data properly, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain a reliable position.
You will own inventory tracking through Excel, ensuring all stock movements, counts, and adjustments are recorded accurately. You will work closely with warehouse and operations teams during on-site days, aligning physical stock with reported figures.
You will manage cycle counts, investigate variances, and maintain structured, audit-ready spreadsheets. This is detail-driven work — accuracy and discipline are key, particularly in a manual environment without full ERP support.
You will also support improvements to how inventory is tracked, tightening controls and reducing recurring errors.
Scope:
*Maintain and update inventory records in Excel

*Cycle counting and physical stock validation (on-site)

*Reconciliation of stock discrepancies

*Investigation and tracking of variances

*Clear reporting of stock position and risks

*Improving spreadsheet structure and data controls



What we’re looking for:
*Experience in inventory, stock control, or warehouse operations

*Strong Excel capability (formulas, data accuracy, basic reporting)

*High attention to detail and structured approach

*Able to work independently across a hybrid setup

*Comfortable operating in a manual, Excel-led environment



This is a delivery-focused role. You will be measured on data accuracy, consistency, and your ability to maintain control of inventory across both site and remote working.
