Practice Junior Accountant
We are seeking a motivated Practice Accountant with a minimum of one year’s experience in an accountancy practice. This role offers strong development potential, with the opportunity to progress into an Accounts Senior position as experience and competency grow.
Key Responsibilities
*Year-End Accounts Preparation
* Prepare year-end accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients, including Limited Companies, LLPs, Partnerships, and Sole Traders. Produce accurate working papers to support all reconciled figures.
*Client Liaison
* Communicate with clients both in person and over the phone to resolve queries, request additional information, and clarify year-end figures when needed.
*General Client Support
* Respond promptly and professionally to client queries as they arise.
*HMRC Registrations
* Complete necessary applications to HMRC for VAT registration, self-employment registration, and other compliance needs. Keep clients informed throughout each process.
*VAT Returns
* Prepare and submit VAT returns for a variety of clients in line with HMRC requirements.
*CIS Knowledge
* A basic understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is preferred but not essential.
*Bookkeeping & Management Accounts
* Carry out monthly bookkeeping for selected clients and assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
*Ad Hoc Support
* Provide general accounting and compliance advice as required.
Skills & Experience
*At least 1 year of experience within an accountancy practice.
*Strong working knowledge of Xero is essential.
*Experience using TaxCalc is desirable but not mandatory.
*Good communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
*Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
