I am delighted to be recruiting on behalf of the Greater London Authority for an experienced Senior Policy Officer to support a pivotal project focused on improving how data about young Londoners is used and shared across multiple agencies.
This short-term role forms part of London’s Youth Guarantee Trailblazer, a government-funded programme aimed at tackling fragmentation in the system and ensuring practitioners have timely, accurate information to better support the young people they work with. You will play a key part in shaping the first phase of this work, laying the strategic and policy foundations ahead of a dedicated Information Governance Officer joining later in the summer.
Contract: 3-month temporary assignment / Hybrid working (2 days in the office based near Canning Town)
Pay rate: £31.62 per hour via PAYE or £41.17 per hour via Umbrella
About the Role
As Senior Policy Officer, you will lead early-stage work to understand the current data landscape, engaging internal teams and external partners to explore what data exists, how it is used, and what gaps or inconsistencies may need to be addressed. Your insights will help set the direction for future data-sharing arrangements and governance frameworks.
You will:
*Map, assess and organise key datasets across two youth-focused projects.
*Identify and convene data owners to explore responsibilities, information needs, and opportunities for better coordination.
*Develop an initial data strategy that supports delivery, reporting and future technical work.
*Surface the policy questions that must be considered to enable safe, effective data sharing.
*Work with the GLA’s Information Governance team to draft an early version of a DPIA, ready for refinement later in the project.
*Produce clear documentation of data flows, decision points, risks and gaps to ensure Phase 2 can progress seamlessly.
