Make a Real ImpactAre you passionate about supporting young people who struggle in mainstream education?
New Chapter Tuition is looking for compassionate and reliable tutors to support students aged 11–16 with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs across Tower Hamlets.
This is a rewarding 1:1 outreach role where you will help students rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve meaningful progress.
About the RoleYou will work closely with learners who may experience:
*Anxiety and school avoidance
*ADHD and behavioural challenges
*Low confidence and disengagement from education
Sessions take place in local community settings such as:
*Students’ homes
*Libraries
*Learning hubs and alternative provisions
You will use a trauma-informed, relationship-based approach to support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities*Deliver 1:1 academic and wellbeing support (KS3–KS4)
*Plan personalised and engaging learning sessions
*Build strong, trusting relationships with students
*Support emotional regulation, confidence, and motivation
*Use creative strategies to re-engage learners
*Monitor progress and provide feedback to families and professionals
Who This Role Is Perfect For*SEN / SEMH Tutors
*Teaching Assistants or Learning Mentors
*Graduates in Psychology, Education, or Youth Work
*Behaviour Mentors or Youth Workers
*Anyone with experience supporting vulnerable young people
RequirementsEssential:
*Experience working with SEN, SEMH, ADHD, or disengaged learners
*Understanding of the UK curriculum (KS3–KS4)
*Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills
*Ability to work independently in community settings
Desirable (Not Essential):
*Teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, etc.)
*Experience in outreach or alternative provision
*Experience working with schools or local authorities
