Quality Operative / Parts Inspector
High-Precision Engineering | West Byfleet, Surrey
Reports To: Quality Manager or Director
Role Overview
A leading high-precision engineering company based in West Byfleet, Surrey, is seeking a Quality Operative to join their dynamic team and support the Quality Manager in the inspection of machined components. The candidate should possess prior experience in 1st off inspection, patrol inspection, and calibration.
Ideally the candidate should hold some form of engineering qualification (ONC/NVQ/BTEC) and have an understanding of machining. While experience conducting inspection reports and machine operation would be beneficial, it is not a mandatory requirement. The company is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and willing to contribute to the team’s growth.
Role Responsibilities
1st off inspection
Patrol inspection
Final inspection
Conducting and assisting with inspection reports (AS9102 FAIR’s)
Checking quality documentation and certificates
Final stage deburring / polishing on high value/quality items
It is also essential that the applicant is happy to work on different tasks depending on where they are required.
What We Are Looking For
Hands-on experience operating inspection equipment for machined components, including:
Aberlink Axiom too CNC coordinate measuring machine
Vision TVM35 digital measuring microscope
Mitutoyo roundness tester
Surface measurement machine
Trimos digital height gauge
Hand instruments
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues
Keen attention to detail and accuracy to produce high-quality components meeting tight tolerances
Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals
Enthusiasm and willingness to learn, take initiatives and grow
Be open to new challenges and willing to take on additional responsibilities
What We Offer
Competitive rate of pay, depending on experience
Opportunities for overtime; standard work week is 39 hours with overtime at 1.5x rate
Flexible working hours (staff can choose either option):
08:00 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday & 08:00 - 13:00 Friday
07:30 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday & 07:30 - 12:30 Friday
Starting 22 days holiday, increasing by one day per year to a maximum of 25 days, plus Bank Holidays
Company Sick Pay Scheme
Attendance bonus: 10 hours at basic rate for no unauthorised absence in every 3-month period
