Job Description:
Senior Planning Officer
*Temporary Contract, Full-time
*Hourly Rate: £20.70 - £22.13
*Location: LE3, Leicester
*Job Type: Hybrid
We are seeking a Senior Planning Officer to undertake essential functions for the County Planning Authority. This role involves a broad range of responsibilities including development management, site monitoring, enforcement, and policy-related tasks. This position offers a dynamic work environment with the opportunity to handle various aspects of county planning services.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Conduct regular monitoring of minerals and waste sites as per the agreed programme to ensure compliance with planning permissions.
*Assist in the development and maintenance of the planning database and associated mapping for effective management of county planning services.
*Manage all aspects of development management related to the determination of planning applications and the review of mineral permissions, including preparing reports and providing pre-application advice.
*Address planning enforcement matters arising from site monitoring and complaints, including recording, investigating, responding to complaints, and taking appropriate enforcement actions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*A relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent higher education qualification in planning or a related environmental discipline.
*General awareness and knowledge of the planning system and relevant processes.
*Experience in development management, enforcement, or policy-related planning.
*Associate Membership of the RTPI preferred.
*Strong knowledge of planning legislation, policy, and good practice.
*Familiarity with Local Government procedures and governance arrangements.
*Understanding of strategic planning issues nationally and those specific to Leicestershire local authorities.
