Environmental Health Team Leader (Environmental Protection)
Duration: 3 months initially
Working pattern: Hybrid
Rate: £47 p/h (Umbrella Inside IR35)


Purpose of the Role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Team Leader to lead an Environmental Protection function within a local authority setting. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can hit the ground running, manage a team effectively, and lead on complex environmental protection matters.


Key Responsibilities
*Lead and manage an Environmental Protection team, including conducting 1-1s and supporting team performance.
*Respond to planning consultations with a focus on noise, contaminated land, air quality, and light.
*Oversee and manage complex environmental protection casework.
*Lead on enforcement activity, including serving notices and prosecutions.
*Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and case law.
*Work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders.
*Engage with members of the public, handling complaints and sensitive issues.


Requirements
*Extensive experience within Environmental Protection in a local authority setting.
*Proven experience as a Team Leader/Manager.
*Strong knowledge of environmental protection legislation and case law.
*Significant enforcement experience, including notices and prosecutions.
*Experience responding to planning consultations (noise, air quality, contaminated land, light).
*Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

*Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business use insurance (essential).
