Job Title: Sous Chef
Location: East London
Working Pattern: Full-Time
Pay Rate: £20-£25/hr
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join a busy college kitchen in East London on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to students and staff in a fast-paced educational environment.
Key Responsibilities*Support the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen
*Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals in line with menu specifications
*Assist in planning menus that cater to a diverse range of dietary needs and preferences
*Supervise and guide kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation
*Maintain strict food hygiene and health & safety standards in accordance with regulations
*Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise food waste
*Ensure all kitchen equipment is used and maintained correctly
*Contribute to a positive and efficient working environment
Requirements*Previous experience working as a Sous Chef or in a similar role
*Relevant culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent)
*Strong knowledge of food hygiene, allergen awareness, and health & safety standards
*Experience working in high-volume catering environments (education or contract catering desirable)
*Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks
*Strong leadership and team management skills
*Good communication and organisational abilities
*Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and service
