Job Description:
Reception Teaching Assistant - Independent School
Ealing, West London
Full-Time | Summer Term 2026 Start | Long-Term
A welcoming and close-knit independent primary school in Ealing is seeking an experienced Reception Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team from the start of the Summer Term 2026 on a long-term, full-time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a smaller, private school setting where class sizes are low, staff are highly supportive, and there is a strong focus on nurturing each child’s individual development.
The school boasts an Art Room, STEM lab, Libray and Music Room.
About the School
This well-established independent school offers a calm, family-oriented environment with a strong emphasis on pastoral care and high-quality early years education. Staff work closely together, and the leadership team prioritises both pupil wellbeing and staff support.
The school provides:
*Small Reception class sizes with strong adult-to-child ratios
*A supportive and collaborative Early Years team
*A warm, inclusive school community with engaged parents
*Well-resourced classrooms and outdoor learning spaces
*A calm and structured learning environment
This is an ideal setting for a Teaching Assistant who enjoys building strong relationships and working closely with young children at a key stage in their development.
The Role
As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils across all areas of the EYFS framework.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Supporting children’s learning through play and structured activities
*Assisting with early phonics, communication, and early maths development
*Working with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning
*Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development
*Helping to maintain a nurturing, safe, and engaging classroom environment
*Assisting with observations and contributing to progress tracking
*Supporting classroom routines, transitions, and outdoor learning
The role requires someone who is confident, proactive, and able to contribute positively to a well-run Early Years setting.
What the School Is Looking For
*Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant within EYFS or Reception
*A strong understanding of the EYFS framework
*Confidence supporting phonics and early learning
*A nurturing, patient, and professional approach
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*A commitment to a long-term role
A relevant childcare or Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable, but experience within a Reception setting is essential.
