As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer within our London team, you will take a leading role in delivering high-performance, technically robust solutions for complex data centre projects across the UK and Europe. This role is designed for an established Principal-level engineer, or a strong Senior ready to make the step up, with a clear and supported progression pathway to Associate Director.


You will lead electrical design activities from concept through to detailed design, construction support, and commissioning. Your responsibilities will include LV and MV distribution, UPS and generator arrangements, resilience strategies, earthing and bonding, lighting systems, and energy-efficient electrical design. You will ensure full compliance with Uptime Institute Tier standards, BS standards, and wider European regulatory requirements, while focusing on delivering resilient, efficient, and high-quality engineering solutions for hyperscale and colocation environments.


As a Principal Engineer, you will hold a key technical and leadership position. This includes steering major projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, leading client communication, and providing technical oversight. You will mentor and guide engineers at various levels, helping to shape the technical capability and culture of the team. Your ability to communicate complex electrical concepts with clarity and confidence will be essential to building trust and delivering consistently high-quality outcomes.


You will be supported by our established London office and our global engineering design centre, giving you access to advanced digital tools, sector specialists, and a collaborative environment built on continuous learning. We offer accredited CPD, technical knowledge-sharing sessions, and robust leadership development. As your experience and responsibilities grow, you will have a structured and transparent route to Associate Director, with ongoing support to develop your commercial, leadership, and project-management capabilities.


We are seeking someone with strong electrical building services experience, ideally within mission-critical or high-technology projects. You should be confident with tools such as Amtech, ETAP, AutoCAD, and Revit, and have a strong understanding of electrical resilience, power distribution, and compliance. Chartered status or clear progress toward it will be highly beneficial for this senior role.
