As a Principal Electrical Engineer within our Manchester office, you will hold a senior technical and leadership position, delivering complex, high-performance electrical systems for major projects across the UK and Europe. In this role, you will lead electrical design activities from concept development through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning. Your responsibilities will include LV and MV distribution systems, UPS and generator configurations, electrical resilience strategies, earthing and bonding systems, lighting and emergency systems, and energy-efficient electrical design methodologies. You will ensure all output aligns with Uptime Institute Tier standards, BS standards, and European regulatory frameworks, while delivering solutions optimised for the technical and operational demands of hyperscale and colocation environments.


As a Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in technical leadership and project delivery. You will guide multidisciplinary coordination, act as a client-facing lead, and oversee the quality and technical direction of large and complex projects. You will also mentor engineers across the Manchester team, shaping capability, supporting development, and helping maintain a culture of excellence. Strong communication skills, sound engineering judgement, and confidence in presenting complex electrical concepts will be essential.


You will be supported by an established Manchester team, backed by our global engineering design centre, giving you access to specialist expertise, advanced digital tools, and a collaborative environment focused on continuous development. We are seeking an engineer with strong electrical building services experience, ideally with exposure to mission-critical, industrial, or other complex technical projects. Proficiency with software tools such as Amtech, ETAP, AutoCAD, and Revit is advantageous, along with a strong understanding of power distribution, resilience engineering, and regulatory compliance. Chartered status or clear progress toward it is highly desirable for this senior role.
