Interim Head of UK Operations
Daily pay rate - £350 to £400 dependent upon experience
Location: (Milton Keynes, MK19 7BH). - must be able to drive as occasional visits to London - expenses paid
Contract: Interim / Fixed-Term - Hybrid contract until February 2027
Start: ASAP - The suitable candidate will be submitted for vetting procedures before being formally offered the position. This process can take 6-8 weeks.
We are seeking an Interim Head of UK Operations to support our Head of Global Logistics during a significant transformation period. This includes upgrading our logistics management system and relocating operations to a new facility. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day activities across three UK locations and support the transition planning to the new logistics facility.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Lead all UK warehouse operations, integrating internal operations and supplier activity into an end-to-end supply chain.
*Strategically develop warehouse operations to deliver a resilient, cost-effective, yet flexible solution.
*Manage supplier delivery activity and financial performance for over £35m of critical services.
*Direct management of a team of approximately 62 people across multiple teams.
*Ensure logistics operations services operate effectively, including overseas delivery.
*Place Health & Safety issues at the centre of logistics solutions, demonstrating the pre-eminence of individual safety through actions and words.
*Provide monthly reports to the Head of Global Logistics on key metrics and operational changes.
*Offer professional/expert counsel to reporting teams and ensure effective workforce planning to meet business needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*A relevant professional business qualification (e.g., degree) and/or membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
*Proven track record in managing Supply Chain, Logistics, Production, Inventory, and Distribution Operations in a global environment.
*Experience leading large teams, ideally with a UK and overseas footprint.
*Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record in delivering a culture of service excellence.
*A proven change agent able to drive strategic and operational change.
*Excellent relationship management skills with an inclusive communication style at all levels.
*Deep knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
*Ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level.
*Track record in achieving objectives, performance targets, and service delivery excellence through teams.
*Experience in strategic planning and risk management.
Desirable:
*Lean six-sigma green belt or above.
*NXCT (X-ray trained).
*Known consignor knowledge.
*Operational knowledge of regulations applicable to exporting, importing, airline, transport, and global freight dis

Working closely with the Head of Logistics Transition, you will play a key role in the operational planning and preparation for moving logistics operations to a new facility.
