Job Description:
Waste Management Operative
*Hourly Rate: £13.26
*Location: Barnsley
*Job Type: Full-time, Temp
We are seeking a dedicated Waste Management Operative to join our team. This role involves a variety of operational duties in all weather conditions, requiring both physical and mental resilience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating machinery, maintaining equipment, and ensuring high standards of health and safety are met.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Operate mechanical bin lifting machinery daily within strict health and safety guidelines.
*Maintain, secure, and ensure careful use of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
*Provide courteous customer service, respond to service improvement requests, and report any issues to the supervisor or manager.
*Work under the guidance of the driver and supervisor, using personal initiative to deliver services to a professional standard.
*Adhere to agreed schedules and standards, and respond positively to new initiatives as directed by line managers.
*Demonstrate safe practices and comply with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures including Health & Safety and Customer Care.
*Support performance management through complex data analysis, promoting quality service delivery and continuous improvement.
*Utilize ICT solutions to deliver and support services, including completing electronic records for new services and initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Effective communication skills and the ability to interpret and act on various forms of instructions.
*Demonstrated commitment to work and the ability to provide practical help to others.
*Capability to suggest improvements and carry out personal workload responsibly.
*Knowledge of safe working practices in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.
*Flexibility to meet the operational needs of the council and willingness to work under the council’s Drug & Alcohol Testing Procedure.
*Willingness to undertake training and continuous professional development.
