The Role
Well-respected accountancy practice in Exeter is seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to join its expanding tax team. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing a diverse corporate client portfolio, overseeing compliance work, and delivering high-quality tax advisory services.
You will work closely with Partners and Directors, supporting business development initiatives and mentoring junior team members, while ensuring technical excellence and outstanding client service.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage a portfolio of corporate tax clients, including SMEs, owner-managed businesses and larger corporate groups
*Oversee the preparation and review of corporation tax returns and computations
*Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services, including:
*Group structuring and reorganisations
*R&D tax relief claims
*Capital allowances
*Corporate interest restriction
*Loss utilisation planning
*Advise on transactions, including acquisitions, disposals and due diligence support
*Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients
*Identify tax planning opportunities within the client base
*Supervise, mentor and develop junior tax staff
*Assist Partners with business development and networking activities
*Ensure work is completed within deadlines and budgets
About You
*CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience with strong technical capability)
*Proven experience in corporate tax within practice
*Strong knowledge of UK corporation tax legislation
*Experience reviewing work and managing client relationships
*Commercially aware with the ability to provide practical solutions
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Organised, deadline-focused and detail-oriented
