Join a specialist firm shaping beautifully crafted creative green oak buildings across the UK.
About the Junior Architect Opportunity
Our client is a well-established expert in the design and construction of green oak structures, delivering bespoke garages, outbuildings, and garden buildings, often with heated spaces that blend traditional craftsmanship with modern living.
They’re growing—and looking for a Junior Architect or Architectural Technician to join them on a flexible freelance basis. If you’re passionate about design, enjoy autonomy, and want to work on high-quality, design-led projects from home—this could be the perfect fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
*Assist in the design and development of green oak ancillary buildings, including garages, outbuildings, and garden structures, often with heated spaces
*Prepare and develop drawings using CAD software to a high standard
*Support the preparation of tender packages for construction, including coordinated drawing sets and supporting documentation
*Liaise with the internal team and external consultants as required
*Attend monthly face-to-face meetings in Hampshire
*Participate in project meetings via Teams or Zoom as required
*Contribute to the refinement of design details in collaboration with senior team
What We’re Looking For
*Proficiency in CAD software (essential)
*Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field (recent graduates welcome)
*Some practical experience in design and/or construction is desirable but not essential
*Good understanding of construction principles and detailing (preferred)
*Strong communication and organisational skills
*Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote working environment
Why Join?
*Work on beautiful, design-led timber projects
*Flexible, home-based working with real autonomy
*Reporting to Director and Lead Architect
*Monthly in-person meetings in Hampshire
*Additional virtual meetings as needed
How It Works
*Freelance, project-by-project engagement
*Portfolio-led selection process
*Shortlisted candidates invited to meet Directors in Hampshire
*Competitive freelance rates based on your experience
