CAD DesignerOverviewPenguin Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established, market-leading acoustic engineering company with over 55 years of experience in designing, manufacturing, and installing noise and vibration control solutions across the UK and Europe. With a reputation for delivering high standards of service and technical excellence, they are embarking on an exciting growth journey and are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join their dynamic Design Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced CAD Designer with a background in construction-related sectors such as structural steelwork, curtain walling, or cladding.
ResponsibilitiesAs a CAD Designer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and practicality of designs. Your key responsibilities will include:
*Conducting dimensional site surveys for projects across the UK and occasionally in Europe.
*Attending design meetings with customers and stakeholders, both on-site and online.
*Producing general arrangement drawings for customer approval.
*Creating detailed manufacturing and installation drawings, along with bills of quantities.
*Coordinating designs with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
*Supporting the design team to ensure drawings are accurate, practical, and suitable for manufacturing.
*Producing as-built drawings upon project completion.
QualificationsTo succeed in this role, you will need:
*A minimum of five years of experience in the construction industry, ideally within structural steelwork, curtain walling, or cladding sectors.
*A solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication and construction practices.
*Proficiency in AutoCAD 2026 LT.
*Experience conducting dimensional site surveys.
*Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
*A full UK driving licence and valid passport.
*Willingness to travel for site visits, including occasional overnight stays and potential overseas travel.
*Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
*A proactive and flexible attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
Desirable qualifications include experience with Revit, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks, as well as relevant technical qualifications or training.
Day-to-DayYour typical day will involve:
*Collaborating with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure designs meet project and manufacturing requirements.
*Preparing and reviewing detailed drawings and specifications.
*Conducting site surveys and attending meetings to gather project requirements.
*Coordinating with stakeholders to address design challenges and ensure seamless project execution.
*Supporting the design team in maintaining high standards of accuracy and practicality in all deliverables.
