Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience)
The Role
A well-established consultancy based in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to play a key role in delivering a diverse range of projects across infrastructure, commercial, and residential sectors.
This position offers a strong balance of technical delivery, project management, and team support. You’ll take ownership of projects from early-stage ground investigation through to detailed design, while also mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the wider growth of the team.
Key Responsibilities
*Managing geotechnical projects from inception to completion
*Designing foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks solutions
*Producing and reviewing interpretative geotechnical reports
*Overseeing and specifying ground investigations
*Carrying out geotechnical analysis (e.g. slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity)
*Acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
*Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
*Assisting with project planning, resourcing, and commercial aspects
Requirements
*Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related field
*5-10+ years’ UK consultancy experience
*Strong technical background in geotechnical design and analysis
*Proven experience managing projects and client relationships
*Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or Geological Society)
*Good understanding of UK standards, including Eurocodes
*Full UK driving licence
